Lifetime Achievement Award of the Rhine Guitar Festival & Academy for Alvaro Pierri

At irregular intervals the Rhine Guitar Festival & Academy (formerly Koblenz) presents its “Lifetime Achievement Award” to someone who has made outstanding achievements in service of the guitar.

Until now the prize has been awarded to Pepe und Celin Romero, Konrad Ragossnig, John D’Addario, Bernard Maillot, Wolf Biermann, Hubert Käppel, Manuel Barrueco and David Russell.

On Pentecost Monday, during a festive musical ceremony, students, colleagues, companions and friends will be coming together to celebrate and honour Alvaro Pierri. Who as an artist, has in his person, united the cultures of Latin America and Europe, and harnessed them fruitfully for the guitar.

For many years, Alvaro Pierri has been a defining figure of the festival as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher and source of inspiration.

We are extremely grateful to him for this, offer him our warmest congratulations and look forward to many more years together in the future.
